LEATRICE ANGEL MIKKELSEN, 79, died on April 9, 2016. She was a Navajo Wyandotte born on the Klamath Agency reservation in Oregon. Her parents moved for work to the Poston Japanese Internment Camp in Arizona where Leatrice was forever influenced by that experience. She graduated from Dominican University and San Francisco State with a B.A and M.A. in Fine Art. She worked as curator for the American Indian Historical Society and was active in the California Native American Indian Contemporary Arts movement. She is survived by her children and grandchildren.
